One way to increase the seating capacity of your restaurant is to think about using the outside space of your restaurant. Not just use the outside space, but maximize this space! In these ecomonic times, it is much more cost effective to use exsisting space.

Using patio umbrellas to shade the outside space makes this space usable and enjoyable for your patrons. Although, many restaurants use small centerpost patio umbrellas to shade their outdoor space, it provides small areas of shade. But now there are more options to consider. Umbrellas now come in large sizes, just think how many tables could fit into a 20 ft x 20ft umbrella!! It looks more like an outdoor room than an umbrella.

The newest trend in patio umbrellas is the side post umbrella. This simply means that the post of the umbrella is located to the side, therefore this allows for more tables to be able to fit underneath the umbrella. And more table space means more revenue!

Another new option in patio umbrellas is linking the umbrellas together to create a large covered area. Link the patio umbrellas together using a gutter system to protect your clients from the elements. Therefore you can use this outdoor space even in light rain.

Think outside your indoor restaurant space and maximize your seating capacity. With umbrellas sizes ranging from 6ft to 20×20ft, there is a size for everyspace!

Many manufacturers of patio umbrellas have outdoor fabric that are UV rated. So think about getting a centerpost umbrella, this model of umbrella is perfect for sun protection as you can move these umbrellas around your yard for protection in multiple locations.

Also think about a tilting umbrella to protect yourself from those rays in the early morning and late afternoon. Even those non peak time sunshine can be damaging.

Another idea for protection in the pool, where the UV rays can be projected upwards and stronger is the cantilever umbrella or side post umbrella.  These types of umbrellas are perfect for protection in the pool because they can be swung over the pool when the pool is in use and when needed outside the pool you can swing the umbrella in the other direction. As most cantilever umbrellas are available with a 360 degree rotating post.

The Itaca Centerpost Patio Umbrella

The Itaca Centerpost Patio Umbrella

Summer is here and it is time to think about getting some shade in your backyard! A perfect option is a centerpost umbrella, also known as a cafe umbrella or market umbrella. This type of umbrella is one that has the umbrella post in the center of the umbrella. This is the most common type of patio umbrellas.  There are many different types and price ranges of market umbrellas. Follow these tips to help buy the right patio umbrella for you!

1. Determine your budget of the umbrella. These types of umbrella can range from about $40 to the hundreds. But remember, sometimes you get what you pay for!

2. Determine the size needed. Centerpost umbrellas can range from about 5ft to 20ft!

3. Pick what type of post that you prefer. Market umbrellas typically come with a wood centerpost, aluminum centerpost, or fiberglass centerpost. If you are choosing a wood post umbrella try to pick one that has a one piece pole and does not have a brass or similar fitting in the center of the post. As this is a stress point for the umbrella and is typically where you will have breakage to the umbrella. Remember, aluminum and fiberglass will cost more in the short term but can last for years to come.

4. Make sure your umbrella features a Marine or awning grade fabric. Most manufacturers will feature a warranty on the top for mildew and rotting. But remember, an umbrella still needs to be cleaned, read our umbrella cleaning tips.

5. Make sure that you put the umbrella in the correct weighted base for the size of the umbrella and your conditions. For Example if you live on the water you will probably need a heavier base. Refer to the manufacturer of your umbrella for the necessary weight needed for your umbrella.

6. Now it is time to enjoy your umbrella and relax in the shade!! For more information regarding choosing an umbrella, please visit TheShadeExperts.com.
